Polo in Argentina

Posted on | November 24, 2009 | No Comments

Argentina has produced the best Polo players in the world, and their national team has remained unbeaten for 60 years. Many of these players come from the Estancias, where Polo Dynasties still keep the game alive.   Another sport played in Argentina which is very similar to polo is that of  Pato. For all of you polyglots out there, you will not be surprised to know that it was actually played with a live duck. The goal was for each team to carry the duck (which was in a basket) on a stick to one end of the field and put it in a larger basket to score a goal. Today, Polo is played throughout the world and from October to December the best players in the world will head South to compete in the Argentine Open, the Tortugas Open and the Hurlingham Open. Waysouth is now organizing incredible trips for people who want to learn about, play or just watch the sport. Please contact James Herrington for more details.
